Christmas in Donegal can be a magical and fun-filled experience, especially if you visit Santa’s Island at Donegal’s very own Lapland.
The longest running and most popular Christmas show in Donegal is back again for 2015 and you do really have to pass the North Pole to get here, we kid you not!
Last year Donegal’s Lapland opened a new purpose-built visitors centre with new and imrpoved facilities to host the live show. The new home proved very popular with all the new facilities.
As with every year and with more feedback from our valued visitors we will build on the success of last year’s event with some new additions and surprises to make 2017 even better!
As with last year, when you arrive for the show everyone can wait indoors in the new visitors centre as the excitement builds in the lead up to each show.
The new visitors centre also houses ample toilet facilities and a baby changing area.
There will also be a number of new additions and surprises added to the whole experience this year.
Special lighting effects, snow effects and smoke machines will be used at various points through Donegal’s Lapland this year all to help enhance the festive experience for your visitors.
There will also be some live animals include in part of the Santa’s Village.
We don’t want to give too much away but Santa has said we can reveal one of the new additions!
Let the magic begin!
The whole show takes place in the dark of night with thousands of lights for special effects to add to the whole experience.
We aim to create a world for the young and old that helps capture the magical and enchantment of the festive period from the moment you arrive.
Setting the Scene
When the live show gets underway, the head elf appears and explains the story of Christmas.
The children watch as a star appears above the stage.
Then the curtain opens.
Behind the curtain are Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus along with a donkey in a stable.
The Elf now explains how Santa got involved in the story of Christmas.
The Grand Entrance
Santa now makes his entrance coming down the chimney.
Santa talks to all those gathered and at the end calls out each child by name and has a small gift for each of them.
When Santa has given each child their gift, everyone is free to move out to Santa’s Village.
In Santa’s Village you can visit Santa’s home, see what he eats for breakfast and visit the elves’ bedroom.
You can explore Santa’s office and the children can write and post their list for Christmas.
Tour Santa’s shops, visit the toy factory and sit on Santa’s sleigh.
In Santa’s home, the children can meet Santa again and have their photographs taken with him.
You also can continue through a tunnel into Elves Kingdom. This is completely different world with Elves houses and many more surprises.
